Our Seed

Naturally Bred. Never Genetically Engineered.

At Wildseed Farms, our wildflower seeds are non-GMO.

Our specially developed varieties are created through traditional plant breeding: careful selection and controlled pollination that encourage the bloom colors and plant characteristics gardeners look for.

It's a time-honored process that works with nature's own genetics, without the use of genetic engineering. The result is seed you can plant with confidence, grown the way wildflowers have always been grown.

Tested for Germination

What is germination? Germination is the moment a seed wakes up. Given the right moisture, temperature, and soil contact, the seed absorbs water, sends down its first root, and pushes up its first tiny leaves. It's the very first step toward a field of bloom.

A seed's germination rate is the percentage of seeds in a batch that sprout under good growing conditions. Seed is a living thing, and its vigor naturally changes with age and storage, so a higher germination rate means more of the seed you sow has the potential to become a healthy plant.

How we test. Because there's no way to tell how well seed will sprout just by looking at it, we test our seed for germination every nine months. That way we know each lot is performing well before it ever leaves our facility and arrives at your door.

Good seed is only the beginning. For the best results, plant at the right time of year, make sure your seed has good contact with the soil, and give it the moisture it needs to get started. Our planting information walks you through each step.
