WILDFLOWER CELEBRATION April 4th - 19th, 2009

Don't miss WILDFLOWER CELEBRATION at Wildseed Farms! Mark your calendars for April 4th through April 19th, 2009, and be sure to visit during the best possible season for wildflowers in bloom!

In addition to fields of colorful flowers, April is prime time for visiting The Meadows, which includes the Butterfly Haus. The Meadows features a walking trail through trial gardens of our best wildflower seed varieties, new seed varieties we are testing, grasses and even a section of "You Pick 'Em" flowers from which our guests may assemble their own bouquet. Nestled in the middle of the poppy fields and featuring the best view of the wildflower acreage, this is the place to have your camera ready! Gorgeous views abound!

The Butterfly Haus is part of The Meadows and cannot be missed!  Over 250 butterflies live in this 3,000 square foot butterfly paradise complete with host plants for each species, a waterfall and a special educational exhibit, which allows the visitor to witness the life cycle of the butterfly in all its stages.  A camera is a MUST!  A new area will open this year for Wildflower Celebration called “Lady Bird Meadows”.  Named in memory of Mrs. Lyndon B. “Lady Bird” Johnson, this area features pathways through wildflowers with seating areas for sitting and relaxing.

Back in the Plaza area of the complex, guests are invited to sit a spell with a cold brew or soft drink, and perhaps a snack from the Wildseed Farms BrewBonnet.  The Almost Patsy Cline Band, a favorite in the Texas hill country, will provide live entertainment every Saturday in April from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m.  Folks come from miles around to hear this talented group of musicians and take a spin around the dance floor!

The Chuck Wagon gang will be back preparing dutch oven biscuits for guests to sample with our large selection of jams and jellies.  The BrewBonnet Biergarten features a full line of specialty foods for guests to sample and purchase.  Sauces, honeys, dips, candy, jams, jellies, salsas, pickles, marinades – you name it!

Our live plant Nursery features beautiful plants, hanging baskets and trees you can take home with you, and a selection of ceramic and talavera pottery not to be missed.  Gardening gadgets you won’t see anywhere else are in use in our landscape and available for purchase as well!

And in our Country Store, don’t forget to pick up some wildflower seed, most of which is grown here in the Wildseed Farms fields!  Gift items ranging from cups and saucers to body lotions and home décor items exquisitely painted with a wildflower theme are everywhere, and the Primrose Room features fashionable ladies’ apparel and jewelry!  And of course tee shirts with wildflowers or butterflies are available for all ages and sizes.  Wildseed Farms has it all!

Wildseed Farms is open daily from 9:30 until 6:00 p.m. during daylight savings time, which of course includes our April Wildflower Celebration!  Parking is free, shopping and relaxing is free,   and dancing to the live band on Saturday afternoons in April is free! The only admission fee charged this year is to the Butterfly Haus, and is well worth it!  Regular adult admission is $5.00 per person, children under the age of 12 and seniors 65 and over are admitted for $4.50, and for groups of fifteen or more there is a special rate of $3.50 per person.

So come on by!  Wildseed Farms is a genuine Texas hill country adventure, and we’re waiting for you with true Texas hospitality!
